How AI Solves Short Term Coronavirus Issues, While Preparing for the Future

In an effort to continue to try and provide our members with resources that are easy to consume, and relevant to their own businesses, we are taking some information that has been developed and trying to “pare it down” as much as possible so you can easily find the identified portions that are most beneficial.

One resource that has been created in the wake of the COVID-19 virus is a video series developed by Dirk Beveridge from UnleashWD. In this particular video, “How AI Solves Short Term Coronavirus Issues, While Preparing For The Future”, Dirk interviews Benj Cohen from Proton.ai.

We have taken some time to pull some of the highlights and identify some important items that were covered, and then time stamp the video for easy access to everything that was covered in the video.

Highlights:

What images come to mind when you think of AI (Artificial Intelligence)? Do images of robots and a dystopian future pop into your head? Instead, what if the images that came to mind were increased sales and better served customers?

Now more than ever, customer needs are changing at a breakneck speed. Solutions that made sense a week ago can seem out of date and out of touch this week. This is all happening while the eyes and ears of your business (Outside Sales Representatives) are sidelined at home.

Normally the outside sales team could meet with customers and understand the challenges they are facing and provide timely service and sales. That is no longer the case with shelter-in-place orders enacted around the world. With that, customers are increasingly turning to digital platforms to satisfy their orders in addition to calling them in. That means your outside sales team is now part of your inside sales team. The collective goal of your total sales team should be to provide elevated levels of customer service that will make a lasting impression on your customer both during and after this crisis.

So where does Artificial Intelligence fit into this? Glad you asked. In its simplest terms:

  • AI takes business data
  • Inputs that data into a computer program
  • That program runs numerous simulations
  • These simulations provide functioning models
  • These models produce useable information

That information can take countless forms. From what the best Chess move might be at a certain point in a game to what products your sales team needs to talk about with their customers about. The second example is what Proton.ai focuses on.

Without it, there is a very high probability that you are losing sales and potentially customers who are dissatisfied with your digital offerings.

There had undoubtedly been a technology gap between generations in the workforce. COVID-19 has rapidly helped close that gap. There are certainly individuals who had resisted technology and avoided digital platforms altogether. Those same individuals are now the ones setting up Zoom meetings and providing timely updates via Slack. This pandemic has increased the digital savvy of almost everyone as the world has been forced to adjust to the changing times.
